As a photographer who has photographed a handful of proposals throughout the Santa Ynez Valley, I understand all too well that there are SO many things to think about as you plan out the moment you will ask your love to marry you in the beautiful Santa Ynez Valley.  To help you along the way I have written out a few tips below.

1. First choose a venue.

Some local spots I love include: Firestone, Roblar, Sunstone, Lincourt, Gainey Winery, Refugio State Beach, Figueroa Mountain, Nahoij Falls, Knapps Castle.

2. Hire your photographer early.

That way they can get in on any planning that will need to take place. We are here to help and offer any advice along the way.

3. Walk Through

Consider doing a walk through with your photographer prior to the day of the proposal even if it’s via skype.  This will help you both to choose the perfect location at your chosen venue and will help ease any nerves you have about getting the proposal just right.

4. Be in the Moment

There is so much pressure when it comes to proposals but remember all that matters is your love for one another, cheesy I know.   Remember to tell them how much they mean to you, why you want to marry them, and how much you love them.    Don’t feel pressure to make your proposal into what you see everyone else doing on social media. Something you both will love and cherish for years to come. This is your moment create it to be something special for you both.
