As a real estate and architectural photographer I had the privilege of photographing this French European estate in Santa Ynez a few weeks ago.
For three days I adventured through various rooms, parlors, and the grounds of this incredible estate. In general, Santa Ynez has some of the most magnificent homes you will ever see. What draws me most to the architecture of this region is that it is incredibly diverse. You will often find craftsman, ranch style, Spanish and European style homes. When I saw this gem I completely fell in love.
Inspired by the French countryside this home was converted from an old barn to be the masterpiece that it is. The homeowners both designed and build this 7,000 sq ft home that sits on a 10-acre estate.
Naturally, I was in awe with the entire estate.
Each space was designed to facilitate meaningful conversations and family engagement. Doing so by using various spaces to create intimate sitting areas for family and friends to gather to discuss days’ events, life’s challenges or life’s many victories. Every detail was thoroughly considered. Such details included chandeliers and lamp posts that were imported from France and artwork throughout the home. Every item had purpose and meaning.
As a former architecture student I find so much beauty in various types of design styles. It would be hard to consider buying my own home because I would be drawn to so many. That being said this home has definitely made it to my top ten of architectural masterpieces I’ve captured. The single element that won me over was the intention that could clearly be seen in every space.
It truly is magnificent.
At the end of all three days I found myself so grateful not only to be a photographer in the Santa Ynez valley but to be a real estate and architectural photographer in the Santa Ynez Valley and greater Santa Barbara regions.
