A lot of my clients come into Santa Ynez from out of town and I am so blessed to be able to serve them as they are visiting our beautiful valley.  When I met the Thompson family I instantly connected with them.  As I pulled up for our session the mom, Deb, who I had been talking with that previous month about the details of their Santa Ynez family photoshoot, came to greet me and introduce me to the rest of the family.

 

They had gathered in Santa Ynez for a family vacation and were journeying in from all around the country and world.  As we got to know each other a bit before shooting I was warmly welcomed into the family and felt entirely comfortable around them.

 Especially grandma,

who would, after the session ask if she could take a photo of me for her own records and memories of her families amazing trip to the Santa Ynez Valley.  As a photographer no one ever asks if they can take a photo of me and I loved this notion.  It was SO sweet and thoughtful.

Over the course of the hour long session for their Santa Ynez family photoshoot I got to step into the world of the Thompson family, feel their generosity and kindness and I can only hope to be able to continue to carry those traits with me.  You never know how a family, couple or photoshoot can impact you and this one taught me a very valuable lesson.

The lesson that while I can try to best serve my clients to my greatest abilities sometimes what they give me in return is SO much greater than I could ever give them.
